Memorandum of Gold Bullion Deposit 1864

Memorandum of gold bullion deposited at the United States Assay Office at New York on November 3, 1864. The description states $1,441.29 was deposited less one-half percent Internal Revenue Tax. This Civil War deposit has the name of J. Fred Pierson with the source of the gold as Colorado and is signed by GW Edelman. There are myriad calculations in pencil as well as ink on both sides of the document and it has previously been folded into quarters, which have left creases most visible on the reverse.
