1865 Seated Liberty Dollar PCGS PR63 Cameo (CAC) Teich Family Collection

1865 Seated Liberty Dollar PCGS PR63 Cameo (CAC) Teich Family Collection

A stunning example of the Seated Liberty design that started in 1839 and ran until 1891, 52 wonderful years, and although many changes were made, they never strayed to far from Christian Golbrecht’s original design. This coin is from 1865 and is one of only 14 coins to receive the PR63 grade from PCGS with 21 higher. This is a tough coin and it is lovely. The stars are nicely struck up, the fields are exceptionally clean, and the striking on Liberty and the Eagle, breathtaking. Another winner for the Teich Family Collection.

1874 Trade Dollar PCGS PR65 (CAC)

1874 Trade Dollar PCGS PR65 (CAC)

The U.S. Trade dollar was designed by William Barber, the mint’s chief engraver and authorized by Congress to improve trade with the Orient. Prior to this, the Mexican Peso was used in trading with China. The Trade Dollar was minted at 420 grains of silver about 8 grains more than the U.S. silver dollar and 4 more than the peso. More trade dollars were made at the San Francisco Mint than any of the other mints combined, making this Philadelphia tougher to come by. With PCGS grading only 8 coins at this level with a single coin finer. Iridescent blue and petal-pink illuminate both sides of this lovely proof gem.

1882-S Morgan Dollar PCGS MS67+ (CAC)

1882-S Morgan Dollar PCGS MS67+ (CAC)

The San Francisco Mint was originally opened to serve the gold Mines of California. The Technique used at this mint delivered sharper detail and greater luster than other mints. This 1882-S Morgan is a testament to this. The sharp detail on this coin is enhanced by the glorious toning that was caused by the sulfur that was sprayed on the mint bags to prevent mice from eating the bags.
