The scarcer of the two logo type varieties, as according to Breen the Closed 3 issue was produced only through February, 1873. The mint changed to the Open 3 design, believing the closed design looked too much like an “8”. Only 55,800 Closed 3 Quarter Eagles were minted. This example is 1 of 41 in to receive this grade with 9 higher. A wonderful representative with glowing golden surfaces.

Despite a large mintage of 1.4 million pieces this is a very elusive issue even at the MS63 level.
This boldly impressed yellow-orange piece offers strong luster and carefully preserved surfaces. On the reverse there are several scratches on the holder, if you have problems viewing the coin, please give us a call for a better description.

A lustrous example of this important variety featuring heavy doubling at the motto IN GOD WE TRUST, at the date, and Liberty. The present piece displays lovely olive green and amber throughout both the obverse and reverse. With only a 196 total coins graded by PCGS, a nice Gem should spark considerable interest among variety collectors.

Only two years of the With Motto Seated Quarter series have arrows at the date. A discovery of a small hoard of 1874-S Quarters in a West Coast bank years ago, making a small supply of high grade examples available. A wonderful example displaying gorgeous untoned surfaces. Only one coin has been graded higher.

With the Civil War starting its second year, people were hoarding money, making this a very tough date. With 932,000 coins minted, PCGS has only graded 113 1862 Seated Quarter in Mint State condition. There are only 7 coins at the MS66 level with 2 finer. This is a truly special coin with bright luster over stunning original surfaces. Even the devices are exquisitely defined. A great opportunity.

According to the industry reference, California Poineer Fractional Gold, by Walter Breen and Ronald J. Gillio, this piece was struck by Frontier & Co. circa 1864 to 1871. Listed by Breen and Gillio as an R-6, attesting to its scarcity. A fun little coin which “romanticized” the old west.

A great coin with ¾ of the obverse untoned. The portion left on the obverse has a warm mix of bronze and magenta that flows over the entire reverse. A great toned Mercury dime.

Absolutely the finest 1922-S Peace Dollar we have seen. Satiny fields look as if they were just struck. Void of the usual bagmarks seen. Without a doubt the best “eye appealling” 1922-S available on the market today. You will not be disappointed.

A stunning proof Buffalo example with a gorgeous wash of honey over silvery surfaces. This is a remarkable proof specimen that lacks any deficiency of striking detail, surface preservation, or eye appeal.

A tough date from the San Francisco mint. Although 604,000 coins were minted there are only 75 coins PCGS has graded in between MS60 – MS67 condition. Only 18 coins have been graded higher than MS64. A lovely golden wash gracefully touches both sides of this lustrous beauty.

A very attractive example of the highly desirerable Dollar denomination. Given a low R-4 rarity in the latest edition of California Pioneer Fractional Gold. The fact that Harry Bass thought enough of this coin to add it to his collection validates its quality. That opportunity is now yours.

A great opportunity to buy a tough Seated Half Dollar that screams with originality. Although 1.4 million were minted, there are only 39 graded MS64 with 19 graded higher. This example has so much character. Light and dark golden hues mix with an array of blues, greens and reds throughout both sides. Bountiful luster with an exacting strike, sums it up.
