1878 Three Dollar PCGS MS64+ (CAC)

1878 Three Dollar PCGS MS64+ (CAC)

A fantastic representative of James Longacre’s PrincessThree Dollar Gold design. Radiant luster glistens on both sides of this lovely example. Although the 1878 three dollar gold piece is a common date, it becomes quite elusive in gem or finer grades and the price reflects this with the price doubling in MS65. The MS64+ is a great alternative to the next grade price increase.

Vancouver 1925 PCGS MS66 (CAC)

Vancouver 1925 PCGS MS66 (CAC)

A stunning representative of this Fort Vancouver Commemorative. Superb luster radiates over Dr. John McLoughlin, builder of the Fort. The Reverse displays the intricate details of the Fort, built on the Columbia River in 1825, with the frontiersman shown in the foreground. Now for the colors that are displayed, where to start. Fiery amber, crimson, emerald, bright yellow, powder-blue; there is no limit to the colors that create the appeal to this coin. 1937-D 3 Leg Buffalo Nickel PCGS MS66 (CAC)

1937-D 3 Leg Buffalo Nickel PCGS MS66 (CAC)

When I look at this piece the first thing that comes to my mind is “a coin that defies existence”. Let me explain. I’ve seen many GEM or near GEM 3 Legged Buffalo nickels; and I handled several of them. But I have never seen one with the eye appeal of this coin. If fact, if this coin was in the middle of a roll of regular 1937-D nickels you wouldn’t even look for the error on the reverse. Blazing luster, generally found on the non 3 leg variety, is abundant.

This coin is basically out of the woodwork. Fresh to the market this piece hasn’t been available to the collecting fraternity for several decades. When first submitted to NGC it received a grade of MS 66+. It was subsequently submitted to PCGS where it was graded MS 66, and then to CAC where it received the coveted seal of approval.

If you are looking for one really special coin this year, one that everyone will admire, then this might be for you. As the old saying goes…”opportunity is knocking”‘
