While not a particularly rare or scarce book, it is the inscription that matters. Handwritten in the front of the book it says, “ Franklin Peale Esq. Chief coiner U.S. Mint presented by the author Feb 18, 1852” .

Original holder for the Roanoke Commemorative Half Dollar. The coins were distributed in card stock holders that could accommodate up to five coins. The front cover of each holder depicts the coin’s obverse and reverse, as well as the dates 1587-1937.
