1787 Fugio Cent, Stated United, 4 Cinq, PCGS MS62BN

1787 Fugio Cent, Stated United, 4 Cinq, PCGS MS62BN

The Fugio is the first coin authorized by the United States Congress and one that should be in EVERY collector’s cabinet. A coin which has had volumes written about it (at least three books that I know about). Throughout time the legends of the coin have been attributed to Ben Franklin and was indeed known as the “Franklin Cent” in the early years of America’s numismatic history.

This piece, no doubt from the famous Bank of New York hoard, has very pleasing dark chocolate surfaces on an above average planchet. Just looking at it reminds me just how difficult times were back then.

1798 Draped Bust Large Cent- 2nd Hair Style NGC MS65 BN

1798 Draped Bust Large Cent- 2nd Hair Style NGC MS65 BN

A lovely design by Robert Scot and a great series to collect, with many available varieties, this is a great accomplishment. This is the second hair style that is easily recognized by the extra curl near the shoulder of Liberty. Also there are changes to Liberty’s face and chin facing a bit more upward. There is a mintage of 1,841,745 for the date, but this number includes all varieties. The piece offered here is one of only three coins to receive this grade from NGC with none higher. PCGS has not graded a single coin higher than AU58. A richly detailed Draped Bust Large Cent with glossy brown coloring.

1803 Draped Bust, Sm. Date, Lg. Fraction PCGS MS63 BN (CAC)

1803 Draped Bust, Sm. Date, Lg. Fraction PCGS MS63 BN (CAC)

Glossy warm brown surfaces enhance this gorgeous design by Robert Scot. Very elusive in this state of preservation. Circulated Draped Bust cents by no means are easy to come by, so finding a Nice Mint State example is extremely difficult. Mint made, die lines, die chips, and clash marks are present , mostly on the obverse. Visual impact is simply stunning; this piece is worthy of inclusion in any set via date or type.

1820 Large Date Large Cent NGC MS65 BN – With original flip

No doubt from the Randall hoard of the 1860′s where thousands of coins dated between 1816 and 1820 were found in a wooden keg shortly after the Civil War. The most plentiful being the 1818 and 1820s.

A GEM large cent, 189 years old. Identifiable as a Randall hoard coin by the ever present die cracks through the stars on obverse. Soothing milk chocolate surfaces with excellent eye appeal.
