1849 Liberty Eagle PCGS AU53 (CAC)

1849 Liberty Eagle PCGS AU53 (CAC)

A great and affordable example of this date. Light wear and ample luster, coupled with minimal surface distractions; everything a collector could want from a coin so rich with history.

Although one would usually think of the gold rush of 1849 when looking at this coin, I don’t. Gold was discovered at Sutter’s Mill in 1848, and the big rush to the gold field started in 1849 (hence “miner 49er”). But this coin was made in Philadelphia, early on in the year, long before most miners made it to California. So while dated 1849 this piece probably had little or nothing to due with the great California gold rush.

1891-CC EAGLE PCGS MS62 (CAC)

A popular date for collectors as this Carson City mint coin is the most easily available. A large mintage of 103,732 were produced but finding coins in grades higher than MS62 can be difficult. 1899-S Eagle PCGS MS66

1899-S Eagle PCGS MS66

The lone coin to receive this lofty grade from PCGS with not a single coin deemed finer. A gorgeous example with bright surfaces and superb details on both the obverse and reverse. Although a large mintage of over 425 thousand coins were minted, this is a tough date in any grade and finding one in this condition is near impossible.

1907 No Motto Indian Eagle PCGS MS64 (CAC)

1907 No Motto Indian Eagle PCGS MS64 (CAC)

First year of issue for this wonderful coin designed by Augustus S. Gaudens featuring Ms. Liberty (the model was Alice Butler) wearing a feathered headdress. St. Gaudens had just designed the beloved $20 featuring Ms. Liberty Standing the same year and under consultation with President Theodore Roosevelt, they had decided the beauty of the $20 design would get lost on the smaller coin and needed a replacement for the $10 eagle. This example is lovely, with bold yellow-gold coloring and precision like detail. A testament to the gorgeous designs that Augustus St. Gaudens has left our country to cherish.

1932 Indian Eagle NGC MS64

Precision like detail is seen on this wonderful $10 Indian. The 1932 has the largest mintage for the series which ended in 1933, making this a more affordable coin for the type. The mintage is high, but the beauty is all there. Pale golden-orange toning enlivens both the obverse and reverse.
