1909-S Barber Half Dollar PCGS MS66 (CAC)

1909-S Barber Half Dollar PCGS MS66 (CAC)

Spectacularly toned and completely original. The portrait is untoned and surrounded by watery fields that give way to bright lemon-lime, midnight blue and amber peripheral toning. A well executed strike imparts sharp definition to the design features, and both the obverse and reverse are devoid of significant marks.

1910 Barber Half Dollar PCGS PR64 (CAC)

1910 Barber Half Dollar PCGS PR64 (CAC)

Gorgeous deep reflective fields are seen on this Barber Half Dollar. Charles Barber’s design was used on Dimes, Quarters and Half Dollars between 1893-1916 (The Half Dollar halted a year earlier in 1915). Barber made changes to the head of the Morgan Dollar, concealing the hair in a cap with a laurel wreath surrounding, and used that for the obverse. Although minor changes were made, the reverse is almost identical to Robert Scots 1804 Dollar, reverse.

The intense toning is the first thing to capture your attention, second, the sharpness in the strike allowing all features of the design to bolding shine through. This is one of only 450 proofs struck in 1915 making this date the second lowest proof in the Barber half dollar series, and if this isn’t enough to entice you, it is one of only 6 coins to receive this grade, with not a single coin finer. This is a breathtaking coin that has it all, a beautiful design, color and rarity!
