Wonderful luster radiates from this Liberty Nickel. This coin was originally produced without the word cents under the “V”, and later added to stop some from gold plating the coins and passing them as $5 coins. A tough coin in this condition with only 24 so graded and none finer.

1906 Liberty Nickel PCGS PR67 Cameo (CAC)

1906 Liberty Nickel PCGS PR67 Cameo (CAC)

Brilliant with crisp frosty devices; this example is spectacular! One of only 14 coins to receive this grade with 1 finer from just a small mintage of 1,725 coins minted in 1906. The design was by Charles Barber and ran for 30 years. Originally the coin did not have the word “Cents” on the bottom of the reverse and some were gold-plated and passed for $5 coins. Changed within the first year, adding the “cents” to the reverse, to stop this fraudulent practice.
