1921 Peace Dollar PCGS MS65 (CAC)
The Peace Dollar was designed by Anthony De Francisci, an Italian-American sculptor. His wife, Teresa was the model for Ms. Liberty. The design contest was announced on Nov. 23, 1921, and the winning design was announced less than a month later, on Dec. 19. The 1921 Peace dollar was rushed into production and more than a million of the date was coined in the last week of the year. Because of the hurried production, the wear on these coins were not tested and finding a nicely struck coin is quite a rarity. This gem example has nicely struck devices and lustrous surfaces. A fair amount of toning occurs on both sides attesting to its originality.
