1875 Twenty Cent Piece PCGS PR65 (CAC)

1875 Twenty Cent Piece PCGS PR65 (CAC)

First year of issue of this short lived design running from 1875 -1878. Immediately unpopular because of the public confusion between these and the quarter dollar. A wonderful proof twenty cent piece from a small mintage of 2790, this is one of 17 coins to receive this grade and only 13 higher.

1875-S Twenty Cent PCGS MS63 (CAC)

1875-S Twenty Cent PCGS MS63 (CAC)

Basically untoned in the sense one would think of toning, this little jewel has an even level of light, and I mean light, toning subduing the luster underneath. Always popular, this short lived series, in just one of the many fiasco produced by the U. S. Mint

1875-S Twenty Cent Piece PCGS MS64 (CAC)

Bright untoned centers are framed by pale blue, olive-green and reddish-orange. The 1875 was the only San Francisco Twenty Cent issue and the most available of all the dates. With a whopping 1,155,000 coins minted, this is a great affordable coin for the Type Collector.

1875-S Twenty Cent Piece PCGS MS64 (CAC)

1875-S Twenty Cent Piece PCGS MS64 (CAC)

First year for this short lived series and the only year produced at the San Francisco Mint. This coin appears untoned, but a thin veil of gold appears with almost indiscernible bluish hues that “POP” when rotated.

1876 Twenty Cent Piece NGC PR66

1876 Twenty Cent Piece NGC PR66

The twenty cent piece lasted only 4 years for reasons that are quite apparent; the 20c piece looked too similar to the Seated Quarter Dollar. The 1876 has the second highest proof mintage for the series of course with only 1260 total coins, it is still tough. Blue, amber and violet congregate on both sides of this amazing coin.

1876 Twenty Cent Piece PCGS MS64 (CAC)

An array of multicolored hues, envelop the wonderful surfaces of this low pop twenty cent piece. The Philadelphia Mint delivered only two business strike issues, the 1875 and the 1876. A tough coin in any grade and a great addition to any collection.
