Peru 1759-L JM 2R PCGS AU55

January 27, 2010 Sales Archive, Sold - World Coins

The smaller sibling of the iconic 8 reale. This denomination was as likely to have seen circulation throughout Colonial America as any other. Struck in Peru with silver mined no doubt mined there.

This coin has alot going for it. Struck on another continent, for a European monarch, and accepted as money worldwide. Tales of pirates, privateers, and colonial unrest surround it.

Lightly circulated, with superb original surfaces.
