After the United States acquired the Philippines from Spain in 1899, they started to address the issue of circulating coins for the territory. This task continued on and off until the late 1940s. These earlier issues were partially made popular by Farren Zerbe who sold proofs along side mint state ones in his booth at the St. Louis World’s Fair of 1904

A lightly toned specimen of the very American and Militaristic design.
