Adams & Co. Bill of Lading to LA Birdsall 1854

This bill of lading from the Adams & Co. California Freight, Package and Parcel Express is for two packages received from the US Mint on July 3, 1854 and addressed to LA Birdsall. The boxes were pre-paid and given no known value. LA Birdsall was appointed June 30, 1853 as the first Superintendent of the US Mint at San Francisco. The reverse of the receipt shows that the two boxes contained dies from Philadelphia. There are several folds on the light blue paper with one heavier crease as well as the remnants of some light brown stains on the reverse.
